South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong-sook urged governments to coordinate climate action and outlined domestic industry efforts at a conference on climate crisis response, The Korea Herald reported Wednesday.

Han cited South Korea’s Korea Green Transformation (K-GX) strategy, which seeks to advance climate measures alongside sustainable growth. She also described programs intended to help industries reduce emissions associated with production.

Han said governments would need to act together if national climate plans were to produce tangible results. She noted that more than a decade had passed since the 2015 Paris Agreement, which calls for keeping the rise in global temperatures well below two degrees Celsius compared with pre-industrial levels.

South Korea would pursue a transition to clean energy and share its experience internationally, Han said. She described the climate crisis as a present danger, calling it “a disaster that threatens our lives today.”
