The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) expects rain around Seoul on Wednesday before cold winds drive temperatures sharply lower, potentially bringing subzero conditions to some central and northern inland areas Thursday morning.

The Korea Herald reported the forecast, citing the KMA. Cooling is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon, with temperatures dropping by about 10 degrees Celsius by Thursday. Frost and freezing conditions are possible in the affected inland areas.

Wednesday’s daytime highs are forecast at 19 to 22 degrees Celsius. Rain totals are expected to stay below 5 millimeters in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, while the Chungcheong provinces could receive 5 to 10 mm.

Jeju Island is forecast to get 5 to 40 mm, with more than 60 mm possible in some mountain areas. Between 20 and 60 mm of rain is forecast for South Gyeongsang Province, Ulsan, Busan, South Jeolla Province and Gwangju.

Parts of southern South Korea received light rain Tuesday. The forecast places showers around Seoul and in northern Gangwon Province on Wednesday morning, ahead of the afternoon temperature drop.
