With South Korea and Timor-Leste nearing 25 years of diplomatic ties, Yonhap reported that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta will meet Friday to discuss wider cooperation.

The agenda includes diplomacy, security, intellectual property, climate change and exchanges between people, Yonhap reported. Ramos-Horta's official visit is scheduled for Nov. 5-7. The countries established diplomatic relations in 2002, and Yonhap said this is the first time a Timor-Leste leader has traveled to South Korea since then.

Lee welcomed Ramos-Horta in a Thursday post on X and called the two countries “steadfast partners.” He also noted that diplomatic ties will reach 25 years next year and expressed hope that the visit would strengthen the relationship.

Ramos-Horta's official visit is scheduled to conclude Saturday, Nov. 7.
