South Korea’s Seoul High Court revoked bail Tuesday for Unification Church leader Han Hak-ja after a reported breach of her release terms raised concerns about evidence tampering in her corruption case.

Han left a hospital designated as her residence without permission and visited a church compound, Yonhap reported. The Seoul High Court cited those actions and concern about evidence tampering in revoking bail.

Han, 83, is appealing a two-year prison sentence, Yonhap reported after her first appeal hearing. The Seoul Central District Court found Han involved in giving a luxury necklace and Chanel bag to former first lady Kim Keon Hee through an intermediary in July 2022, as the church sought political favors. The court also convicted Han of colluding with former church officials over a 100 million won payment to Kweon Seong-dong in January 2022, when he was a People Power Party lawmaker.

Kim faces a separate case involving allegations of stock manipulation, illegal political funding and bribery.
