South Korea’s won weakened against the U.S. dollar Monday, with USD/KRW climbing to 1,343.8 won per dollar at the close and moving farther from its 2026 low.

Bank of Korea data showed the prior session closed at 1,334.3, putting Monday’s finish 9.5 won higher. The rate began the day at 1,335.0, then advanced 8.8 won before the close.

USD/KRW expresses the dollar’s price in won; a higher reading means it takes more of the South Korean currency to buy one dollar, reflecting a weaker won. The 1,343.8 close sat 20.7 won above the 2026 low of 1,323.1 on Oct. 26 and 13.6% below the peak of 1,555.8 set July 2.

The rate also remained below its year-earlier level. Bank of Korea data listed USD/KRW at 1,424.4 on Oct. 31, 2025, 80.6 won above Monday’s reading; a lower rate means the won was stronger against the dollar than it was then.
