Saffron’s current vaults let liquidity providers take upfront payments for the possibility of future Uniswap fees, while governance token Spice (SFI) began trading on Kraken Friday, Oct. 23, expanding its trading access.

Kraken identifies SFI as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and gives its supply cap as 100,000 SFI. Kraken says users can access SFI through its app and Instant Buy, subject to sufficient liquidity, and availability can differ by location.

Saffron’s contract repository identifies Uniswap v3 positions as the basis for its current vaults. A liquidity provider transfers a position’s potential fee receipts in return for a preset payment; a counterparty pays now for possible income later. Saffron describes the model as matching providers seeking a known return with traders interested in uncertain future yield.

The fee stream depends on market movement. Uniswap documentation says a position stops generating fees when the market price moves beyond its selected band.

Kraken also says Saffron has retired a tranche feature dating to October 2020 and a subsequent insurance feature.
