Stablecoin supply contracted by $11.5 billion over a month to $291.2 billion, with Tether and Circle responsible for most of the reduction while the median decline among larger stablecoins was smaller.
The total was 3.8% lower than a month earlier and sat 7% below its 52-week high. At 3.8%, the marketwide contraction exceeded the median decrease by 2.8 percentage points. The measures cover the full market and a subset of stablecoins, respectively.
Most of the $11.5 billion contraction came from Tether and Circle, whose supply totals fell $5.7 billion and $3.2 billion, respectively—about 77% combined.
For stablecoins with more than $100 million in circulation, the median supply decline was 1%. That figure represents the midpoint for the qualifying group, rather than the change in total supply across all stablecoins. The data describes the contraction's scale and distribution but does not identify a cause.
EconoTimes previously covered a $6.9 billion monthlong decline in stablecoin market capitalization.
