Stryker Corporation completed its acquisition of privately held ZuriMED on Monday, bringing the FiberLocker System into its Sports Medicine portfolio and expanding its range of products for shoulder surgeons.

ZuriMED developed FiberLocker for rotator cuff repair. The system is already on the market. Stryker says the technology is intended to improve a repair’s biomechanical strength, giving surgeons another option within its shoulder portfolio.

Andy Pierce, Stryker’s group president for MedSurg and Neurotechnology, said the company sees an opportunity to develop FiberLocker further. He said the acquisition could make innovative treatment options more widely available and create greater value for customers and their patients.
