At least 80 people died when a drone struck a transport hub near a market in West Kordofan on Sunday, according to a witness and medical source cited by AFP.

Witness Ahmed Abakar Wadi told AFP that people had gathered after market day to find rides to their villages. He said the drone hit again about 10 minutes later. Wadi said he helped bury 50 people, including his brother Mohamed.

A medic told AFP that 30 of the 47 people transferred to Al-Mujlad, the nearest town, died from their injuries. The medic also said four people were hurt in a separate drone strike on Al-Mujlad.

Tasis, an administration declared by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, accused Sudan's army of carrying out the Al-Dibab attack. AFP reported that the Rapid Support Forces control West Kordofan and described the strike as among the war's deadliest single incidents. Sudan's army and the paramilitary group have fought since April 2023.

In Khartoum on Monday, a medical source told AFP that a drone strike at a house near the airport killed three children, ages 2 to 6, and a man.
