Sysco named Brandon Sewell executive vice president and chief financial officer effective Nov. 1, while reaffirming fiscal 2027 profit and volume guidance and placing its sales forecast near the lower end of its range.
The company announced the appointment Tuesday, Nov. 3, alongside its first-quarter results. Sewell had served as interim CFO since March and joined Sysco in 2014. Before taking the interim role, he led finance for its U.S. business as senior vice president and CFO.
Sysco left its adjusted earnings-per-share growth outlook for fiscal 2027 at 9% to 11%, alongside an estimate for local-volume growth of about 2.5%. The company now expects sales to grow at the lower end of its 6% to 7% range, citing a lower industry inflation environment.
Sysco's fiscal 2027 guidance included an adjusted EPS range of $5.02 to $5.12 for the 53-week fiscal year, with the extra week factored into the figure. That outlook also included $100 million in expected net savings from AI-related work, with a larger share anticipated in the year's second half.
For the 13-week quarter through Sept. 26, Sysco recorded $21.7 billion in sales, 2.8% above the year-earlier level. Adjusted diluted EPS reached $1.19, up 3.5%, and U.S. local case volume climbed 2.7%. The quarterly case-volume gain compares with the company's roughly 2.5% local-volume assumption for the full fiscal year.
Sysco said board Chair and CEO Kevin Hourican praised Sewell's experience. “Brandon commands a deep knowledge of our business, broad financial expertise, and strong understanding of how Sysco creates shareholder value,” Hourican said. A March filing said Sewell took the interim role effective March 6 after Kenny Cheung's departure for a Fortune 10 company outside Sysco's industry.
Sysco distributes food and related products to customers in restaurants, health care, education and lodging. The company reported $84.6 billion in sales for fiscal 2026, which ended June 27.
