Türkiye’s 2027 annual program sets targets of 80 geographical indications registered in the European Union and 2,600 international patent applications, linking intellectual-property support with commercialization and export prospects in the bloc.

The program estimates 60 EU registrations and 2,400 international patent applications for 2026. It labels those figures as estimates, while the higher numbers for 2027 are targets.

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office lists 46 Turkish geographical indications in the EU register. The European Commission registered Adana Şalgamı and Kayseri Pastırması in 2026, adding both to the register.

To support further applications, the program calls for technical assistance to institutions preparing submissions for EU registration. It also directs officials to identify local pilot products, provide branding training to their representatives and collect data on the products’ export prospects in the bloc. The program connects these measures with developing and commercializing intellectual property and identifying goods with strong EU export potential.

The intellectual-property goals sit alongside wider export measures in Türkiye’s 2027 program. The plan also addresses patents related to green and digital transformation: it estimates 17,500 registered, valid patents for 2026 and sets a 2027 target of 18,500. It includes support measures for early-stage firms in those areas.

For artificial intelligence in registration procedures, the program calls for officials to identify requirements and the target outlook, then develop a solution plan. It does not specify a date for that plan.

The Presidency of Strategy and Budget (SBB) said annual program measures will be monitored and assessed quarterly. Its announcement did not give a date for the next review.
