Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed regional security and attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity Monday, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources told Anadolu Agency.

Anadolu placed the call in the context of the Iran war and renewed fighting in Yemen. Separately from the ministers’ reported agenda, the agency said the Houthis had targeted Saudi energy and aviation facilities, including airports.

The Houthis took control of Sanaa and other parts of Yemen in 2014, Anadolu reported. The following year, Saudi Arabia began leading an Arab coalition against the group.

A dispute over support for the Houthis preceded the call. Saudi Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Rayed Krimly accused Iran on Oct. 15 of arming and training the group. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei rejected the Saudi accusation Oct. 16.
