Taiwan’s six labor funds earned NT$2.44053 trillion in the first nine months of 2026, the Bureau of Labor Funds said Monday, returning 30.73% across the retirement and insurance funds.
The funds held NT$9.21089 trillion at Sept. 30. Their cumulative investment gain rose NT$117.81 billion during September, calculated from the bureau’s reported totals at Aug. 31 and Sept. 30.
The new-system Labor Pension Fund, the largest of the six, held NT$6.06222 trillion at the end of September. It earned NT$1.70442 trillion over the nine months and returned 30.43%. The old-system Labor Retirement Fund held NT$1.21165 trillion and returned 44.16%, the highest rate among the six funds.
Returns varied across the other funds. The Labor Insurance Fund returned 27.14%, while the Employment Insurance Fund returned 2.73%. The Labor Occupational Accident Insurance Fund returned 1.51%, and the Arrear Wage Payment Fund returned 17.33%.
The six-fund figures exclude the National Pension Insurance Fund and Farmers’ Pension Fund, which the bureau reports separately. Including those two funds, the bureau managed NT$10.15775 trillion at Sept. 30.
In its assessment of September markets, the bureau said demand linked to semiconductors and artificial intelligence supply chains supported Taiwan shares. It also said gains in the stock market were concentrated in a small number of large electronics stocks.
The 30.73% return is a result for the funds, rather than an equal payment to every worker. For the new-system pension fund, the Bureau of Labor Insurance says each account’s share of the prior year’s profit or loss is calculated using its daily closing balance relative to the fund’s total daily closing balance. The allocation is distributed by the end of the following March.
