Taiwan added 64,000 stock trading accounts in October, bringing the month-end tally to 14.827 million as the Taiex extended its 2026 advance, Taiwan Stock Exchange figures showed.
Focus Taiwan reported the total was a new peak, citing exchange data. The Taiex, Taiwan's benchmark share index, closed Oct. 30 at 45,211.83, up 16,195.15 points, or 55.81%, from the start of the year. People aged 30 or younger made up 56.3% of October's new account openings, according to Taiwan Stock Exchange figures. Those younger than 20 added 16,472.
At month-end, the 20-to-30 age group had 1.95 million accounts, while the under-20 group had 907,350. Investors ages 31 to 40 held 2.40 million accounts after adding 9,937 during the month.
