An unnamed security source quoted by Tasnim News Agency alleged Ukrainian operatives placed thousands of micro-drones in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and said Tehran was considering a response.

The source separately alleged that Ukrainian drone units were deployed in several countries near Iran. It did not identify the other countries, saying it would disclose them later, and portrayed the alleged activity as part of a wider European and NATO campaign against Iran. Tasnim based its account on the unnamed source and cited no independent evidence for the deployment claims.

Ukraine has described its work with Gulf partners as defensive. In a March 10 address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a team that included military personnel was traveling to the Gulf to help counter Iranian drone attacks. The Ukrainian presidency later said specialists were working with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on airspace protection. Those statements concern assistance to Gulf partners and do not establish the separate Kurdistan allegation.
