Voltas will name Tata Consumer Products Managing Director and CEO Sunil Alaric D’Souza chairman on Nov. 12, shifting leadership at the Indian cooling and engineering company as Noel N. Tata retires.
The board approved the change at a Nov. 6 meeting, according to Voltas’ exchange filing. D’Souza has served on the board as an additional non-independent, non-executive director since May 14, 2026. Tata is due to retire as chairman and director on Nov. 11, then become chairman emeritus on Nov. 12. He has been associated with Voltas since 2003. The company said his retirement follows Tata Group governance guidelines adopted by Voltas.
Tata Consumer Products says D’Souza has been its managing director and CEO since April 2020. Before that, he led Whirlpool India for more than four years and spent nearly 15 years at PepsiCo, with leadership roles in food and beverage operations and Asian markets.
Tata Consumer Products says D’Souza holds an engineering degree from the University of Madras and is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta. The institute’s biography lists an engineering position at Siemens India among his early experience and says he studied management at IIM Calcutta before joining Hindustan Lever as a management trainee in 1993.
Voltas’ portfolio includes room air conditioners and other cooling products, engineering solutions and projects, textile machinery, and mining and construction equipment, according to the company.
The filing also sets out a later change in Voltas’ managing director post. Mukundan Menon C.P. is due to complete his tenure and retire on May 24, 2027. The board approved Jayant Balan, head of the room air-conditioner business, as an additional director and managing director for five years starting May 25, 2027, subject to shareholder approval.
