Like Tesla’s other popular all-electric vehicles, the Cybertruck is also going international. This was seemingly confirmed after a fan spotted the Tesla China website has started offering reservations for the futuristic pickup truck.
Tesla China opens reservations for Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck reservations are now available in China, one of the biggest automobile markets in the world. This move is not surprising considering the success Tesla has seen after releasing the Model 3 in the country.
Reddit user u/aaronhry was one of the first persons to notice the change in Tesla China’s online store. The page for Tesla Cybertruck has been added along with an Order Now button confirming that the company is starting to accept reservations for the all-electric pickup truck.
To reserve a Tesla Cybertruck, Chinese customers will have to pay 1,000RMB upfront ¥1,000 or around $143. The website still has not posted the final purchase prices of the three Tesla Cybertruck models: Single-Motor RWD, Dual-Motor AWD, and Three-Motor AWD. But the page shows that the Full-Self Driving add-on will cost ¥64,000 which is more than $9,100.
Over at the United States order page for Tesla Cybertruck, the prices for the said models are already set ranging from $39,900 to $69,900 while the FSD costs $8,000. In both versions of the order page, customers are reminded that paying the FSD fee upon reserving a unit of the Cybertruck will ensure them they will not be affected by any future price increase on the additional feature.
Tesla Cybertruck alloy will be updated, Elon Musk confirms
Tesla is not new to changing specs and designs of its announced and upcoming vehicles. Earlier this week, Elon Musk just confirmed another tweak to be expected on the Tesla Cybertruck specifically on the type of alloy to be used in the pickup truck.

Telsarati reported on SpaceX’s Starship prototype that mentioned the change to a “superior” 304L stainless steel. Musk then replied on Twitter, “We’re rapidly changing alloy constituents & forming methods, so traditional names like 304L will become more of an approximation.” When a fan asked if the change will also apply to the Cybertruck, Musk simply said, “Yes.”
The Tesla Cybertruck’s production in the U.S. is slated to begin in late 2021. Meanwhile, the company has just chosen Austin, Texas as the site of its next Gigafactory where the all-electric pickup truck will be made.
