Tesla announced it will introduce battery armor and rock sliders for the Cybertruck by the end of 2024, enhancing the electric truck’s off-road protection. The new additions follow scrutiny over the vehicle’s design after a social media incident.
Tesla to Release Cybertruck Accessories in 2024
By the end of the year, the Cybertruck will have rock sliders and battery armor from Tesla. According to Teslarati, the electric pickup truck would be even more formidable with the attachments installed, especially when faced with absurd stunts.
In response to an incident in which the all-electric pickup truck was shown crashing into fences and supposedly ruining its radiator, Tesla Cybertruck Lead Engineer Wes Morrill took to social media site X to discuss the forthcoming accessories for the Cybertruck.
Critics Call Out Cybertruck’s Design Flaws
Critics of Tesla wasted little time taking advantage of the social media stunt—which apparently concluded with the Cybertruck's radiator leaking—to poke fun at the all-electric pickup truck, claiming that it had weaknesses in its design and was weak.
Nevertheless, as Morrill pointed out, drivers who want to drive their Cybertruck into fences should probably not remove the bumper and aluminum skid plate that comes standard on the vehicle. Both of these components were supplied by the manufacturer.
“Battery armor and Rock sliders will be available as a retrofit option end of this year. Also if you plan to drive into fences probably best not to remove the front bumper and aluminum skid plate that come stock,” Morrill wrote in his X post.
Tesla Defends Cybertruck’s Durability After Incident
It is easy to comprehend the remarks made by the lead engineer of the Tesla Cybertruck. After all, the Cybertruck act on social media is similar to someone purchasing body armor, taking it off, firing it, and then being startled that a bullet passed through it.
