Tesla's Robovan Glides Like a Hovercraft—Elon Musk Unveils the Game-Changing Suspension System

Tesla’s Robovan glides on air with its futuristic suspension system at the

Tesla wowed the crowd at the "We, Robot" event with its Robovan, a futuristic vehicle that appears to float with its automated load-leveling suspension system. Elon Musk revealed how the system adjusts to road conditions, making the vehicle both sleek and versatile.

Tesla Unveils Futuristic Robovan at "We, Robot" Event

It was clear that Tesla was not hesitating to build machines that looked like they belonged in a science fiction film when the Robovan made its way to the stage during the "We, Robot" event, Teslarati shares.

Even while there wasn't a ton of information shared regarding the Cybercab and Robovan's technical aspects at the event, CEO Elon Musk did talk about the people hauler's suspension system.

Robovan's Air-Like Ride Stuns Audience

As it glided up to the stage of the "We, Robot" event, the Robovan gave the impression that it was moving on air. The Robovan's wheels are hardly invisible due to how low it is on the earth.

The result is a futuristic appearance, but it has raised questions about the vehicle's traction on less-than-ideal roads. Critics have also made fun of the Robovan, saying it resembles a kitchen appliance.

Musk Defends Robovan’s Design and Functionality

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, later noted in his remarks on X that, contrary to appearances, the interior of the Robovan is actually quite airy.

Musk went on to say that the Robovan's automated load-leveling suspension system is to blame for the vehicle's incredibly low ground clearance. This feature enables the electric people-hauler to adjust its suspension height in response to road conditions.

Robovan's Massive Cargo Capacity Appeals to Tour Operators

The Robovan has a huge cargo compartment, big enough to fit many luggage and other bulky objects, according to press photographs published by Tesla.

Therefore, it would not be unexpected if tour and travel companies wind up using the vehicle for their needs. Operators of Robovans would greatly benefit from a system that automatically levels the vehicle's suspension for situations like these.
