Corpus Christi, TX, June 09, 2017 -- CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – On Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, The Texas State Aquarium will hold two events to celebrate World Oceans Day, a global holiday to that encourages solutions to plastic solution and preventing marine litter for a healthier ocean and a better future.

On June 9 at 9 a.m., the Aquarium’s AquaTeens volunteer program will hold a beach cleanup at the Aquarium’s adopted park, Packery Channel Park. Several staff members will also assist with the cleanup, and members of the public are welcome to join.
On Saturday, June 10, the Aquarium will hold its annual World Oceans Day celebration. Several educational games and activities will encourage guests of all ages to help save the ocean. Activities include a storytime with an animal interaction, learning stations, an animal detangling activity, a science artwork display, a t-shirt bag making activity, and games of Tic-Tac-Tocean. Several local conservationists and scientists will also be in attendance to speak with guests about ocean conservation issues.
World Oceans Day will be celebrated at locations throughout the Aquarium on Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and all activities are included with guest admission. The Aquarium will open during its regular hours of 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday.
