The Bitcoin Historian Claims BNY’s Bitcoin Position Tops $201 Million

Without a valuation date or comparison window, @pete_rizzo_’s X post gave little context for its claim about BNY’s Bitcoin position, which it valued above $201 million.

An X post tied to The Bitcoin Historian put BNY’s Bitcoin (BTC) exposure above $201 million, while leaving readers without the timing details needed to assess the claimed increase.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the account (@pete_rizzo_) said BNY’s position had grown by more than 77%. It assigned the holding a value exceeding $201,015,183 and presented that figure as current.

The post gave no BTC balance, no valuation date for the $201,015,183 figure and no period behind its claimed rise of more than 77%. A percentage without a comparison window does not show how long the change covered, while a dollar estimate without an as-of date cannot be tied to a particular day. The missing balance also means the post did not state how many coins were included in its claim.

A separate “$2.2 trillion” label appeared by BNY’s name, with no indication of what it measured. No direct comment from BNY appeared in the post, which identified no separate bank announcement.
