MISSION VIEJO, Calif., June 27, 2017 -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENSG), the parent company of the Ensign™ group of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health care, hospice care and assisted living companies, announced today that it acquired the real estate and operations of two assisted living facilities in Texas and three assisted living facilities in Wisconsin, all of which were previously operated by affiliates of Brookdale Senior Living. The acquisition was effective June 16, 2017, and includes:
- Meadowcreek Senior Living, a 37-unit assisted living facility in Lancaster, Texas;
- Paris Chalet Senior Living, a 37-unit assisted living facility in Paris, Texas;
- Maple Meadows Assisted Living, a 19-unit assisted living facility in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin;
- North Point Senior Living, a 19-unit assisted living facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and
- Lakepoint Villa Assisted Living, a 19-unit assisted living facility in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Ensign's President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Christopher Christensen, said “These acquisitions will add to our expanding senior housing footprint in Texas while simultaneously leveraging the talent of our senior living operators in Wisconsin.” He added, “While we remain selective when looking at potential acquisitions, we continue to find quality, accretive opportunities in senior housing, skilled nursing, home health, hospice and other post-acute businesses.”

He added that these facilities had a combined occupancy rate of 80% at the time of acquisition.
These acquisitions bring Ensign's growing portfolio to 222 healthcare facilities, fifty-six of which are owned, twenty hospice agencies, eighteen home health agencies and three home care businesses across fourteen states. Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that the organization is actively seeking opportunities to acquire real estate and to lease both well-performing and struggling skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare related businesses throughout the United States.
