The reports said Vijay Sankar, chairman of The Sanmar Group, had been picked for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI) president-elect role for 2026-27, citing a chamber statement.

The outlets said FICCI’s National Executive Committee made the selection on Oct. 29. Their accounts place Sankar’s assumption of office after the chamber’s next annual gathering.

Sankar chairs The Sanmar Group, whose profile lists shipping and steel foundries alongside engineering technologies and businesses in chemicals and specialty chemicals.

The Economic Times reported that Anant Goenka began his presidency during FICCI’s 98th annual convention in November 2025. His term is 2025-26.

The reports say Sankar is expected to succeed Goenka after FICCI’s next Annual General Meeting and Annual Convention. The chamber’s gathering is scheduled for Nov. 18-19, 2026, in New Delhi, according to the outlets.
