A Dutch court is expected to decide which BYD records Jaguar Land Rover can use in its intellectual-property dispute over the Ti7, The Sunday Times reported, as JLR seeks to keep the SUV off the European market.
The Sunday Times said bailiffs acting under a Dutch court order removed digital records from BYD locations in Schiedam and Hoofddorp over the summer. JLR sought the order, the report said. The court was expected to decide this week which records JLR may use; The Sunday Times did not specify a date.
JLR alleges that the Ti7 infringes intellectual-property rights associated with the Land Rover Defender. The allegation remains unresolved. BYD’s lawyers described the seizure as a “fishing expedition,” The Sunday Times reported.
BYD’s July 31, 2026, UK announcement set a £47,995 on-the-road starting price for the Ti7 plug-in hybrid. The company describes the vehicle as its first seven-seat model for the UK and expects customer deliveries in January 2027.
A JLR spokesperson told The Telegraph, in comments carried by AOL: “JLR does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings.”
