Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. reported a 9% rise in third-quarter revenue to $12.14 billion, as growth in its largest reporting segment outweighed a decline in Specialty Diagnostics.

Revenue was $11.12 billion in the comparable 2025 quarter. The 2026 quarter ended Sept. 26, while the year-earlier quarter ended Sept. 27, 2025. Thermo Fisher disclosed the results in an earnings release included as Exhibit 99.1 to a Form 8-K filed Oct. 21 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Adjusted earnings per share increased 15% to $6.68. Diluted earnings per share under generally accepted accounting principles rose 9% to $4.64. Thermo Fisher also reported 6% organic revenue growth, a measure that excludes the effects of acquisitions, divestitures and currency translation.

Laboratory Products and Biopharma Services, the company's largest reporting segment, generated $6.86 billion in revenue, compared with $5.97 billion a year earlier. Specialty Diagnostics revenue moved in the opposite direction, falling to $1.10 billion from $1.17 billion. The segment figures show that sales growth was uneven across the company's businesses.

Operating income under generally accepted accounting principles increased 17% to $2.26 billion. The operating margin widened to 18.6% from 17.4%, meaning a larger share of revenue became operating profit than in the year-earlier quarter.

Thermo Fisher said it completed its previously announced divestiture of its microbiology business during the quarter. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Marc N. Casper pointed to customers' response to the company's growth strategy and credited its PPI Business System with helping carry out that strategy across the company.
