A request for U.S. authorities to arrest Israeli commander Sean Glass over the 2024 killing of five-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab gained support from U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who also called for an investigation.
In an Oct. 19 social media post, Tlaib argued that U.S. commitments under the Genocide Convention and Geneva Conventions required action over alleged war crimes and genocide. She cited unverified reports placing Glass in the United States.
The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) said it submitted an emergency request to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) seeking Glass's arrest. HRF identified him as commander of the “Vampire Empire” Company and said its investigation placed him and members of his unit close to Rajab's car during the attack. Those claims about Glass's role are the foundation's allegations.
Rajab was in a car with family members attempting to leave Gaza City on Jan. 29, 2024, when it came under fire. Her family members were killed, and Rajab called emergency services for help. She and the medics sent to reach her also died.
Forensic Architecture said its analysis found no evidence indicating a firefight and placed only Israeli forces in the area at the time. Israel has opened an investigation into the killings.
