E-commerce specialists at Tim Marr compare discounts from the most popular retailers to find the best value Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. By driving more shoppers online through extended sales periods, total spending during Black Friday 2017 is on track to reach new heights. Total spending in the holiday shopping season has been rising 5% on average since 2010. Spending reached a peak of almost $700 billion in 2016, according to research published by the National Retail Federation.
This year a huge number of deals are available online, marking a shift away from in-store Black Friday sales and the overcrowding that often resulted. Data from the NRF Survey indicates that last year 52% of Black Friday shoppers headed to the web, marking the first time that spending online has exceeded brick and mortar stores.
Most retailers start their Black Friday sales on Monday 20th November and keep deals running until the following Monday (Cyber Monday).
