About 12% of tracked tokens showed profitable spending by recent holders at October’s end, down from about 80% in late September, while short-term holders sold the typical tracked token at a small loss.

The measure covers coins recently held and then spent. A result above 1 signals profit on those coins; below 1, a loss. Because results are counted by token, they do not show how many individual traders profited or how unsold holdings performed. The latest reading uses data available at 6 a.m. ET Nov. 4 (11:00 UTC).

On Nov. 6, the 90-day Altcoin Season Index was neutral. It compares eligible coins in the top 50 with Bitcoin (BTC); at least 75% must outperform BTC for the index to signal altcoin season. That price-based test differs from whether coins already spent by recent holders were sold at a profit.
