Trident Limited’s net profit nearly doubled in the September quarter as its board gave in-principle approval to a ₹46.5 billion expansion spanning yarn, sheeting, paper and renewable energy, with projects scheduled through 2029.
Consolidated net profit after tax was ₹1.76 billion in the quarter ended Sept. 30, up from ₹909.3 million a year earlier, the unaudited results showed. Revenue from operations fell 3.8% to ₹17.19 billion, while total expenses dropped to ₹15.10 billion from ₹16.81 billion. LiveMint reported that Trident shares rose 13.42% to an intraday high of ₹25.18 on Nov. 3.
Segment results varied. Yarn rose to ₹1.91 billion from ₹472.4 million, and bedsheets increased to ₹385.7 million from ₹183.4 million. Towel results declined to ₹325.8 million from ₹782.3 million, while paper and chemicals fell to ₹342.7 million from ₹430.5 million.
The company’s Nov. 2 filing lists ₹10.22 billion for yarn additions and modernization at Budhni, ₹16.6 billion for a new yarn facility at Dhar, ₹10.18 billion for sheeting, ₹2.96 billion for paper and ₹6.54 billion for a hybrid renewable-energy project. Trident expects to fund the program through internal accruals or debt financing.
Plans call for 99,840 additional spindles at Budhni and 199,680 at Dhar, alongside 336 sheeting looms and 28 tonnes per day of paper capacity. Trident said it had acquired 179.2 acres of leasehold land for the Dhar project for about ₹1.06 billion.
Trident said the projects would improve plant and energy efficiency while reinforcing its competitiveness in India and overseas. The filing lists Dec. 31, 2027, as the deadline for the Budhni work. Sheeting, paper and renewable-energy projects have deadlines in 2028, while the Dhar facility is scheduled for completion by Sept. 30, 2029.
