AFP reported President Donald Trump called former President Barack Obama a “lousy president” Monday, Oct. 26, after Obama mocked White House renovations during campaign events, with Republicans at risk of losing control of Congress.
Trump spoke to reporters at Joint Base Andrews while traveling to a midterm rally. He attacked Obama’s record in office and said the former president had missed maintenance problems at the White House, including damaged masonry, AFP reported.
Obama’s remarks came during Saturday appearances for Democrats in Ohio and Michigan. He criticized what he called Trump’s “chaos and cruelty” and joked, “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory,” AFP reported.
The renovation work includes a ballroom and gold-leaf decoration in the Oval Office, according to AFP. The news agency described the Cheesecake Factory as a restaurant chain known for its broad menu and eclectic interior design.
The exchange followed Trump’s earlier Truth Social attack on Obama over the renovation dispute, covered in EconoTimes’ previous report. The midterm elections are next week, AFP reported, with Republicans facing the possibility of losing control of Congress.
