In a Nov. 3 Financial Times interview, President Donald Trump said the United States had no immediate plans to strike Iran and that U.S. forces could act if needed.

Reuters separately reported the no-immediate-strike remark and quoted Trump saying, “We seem to be getting everything we want.” The telephone interview lasted six minutes.

Iran International’s account of the interview quoted Trump calling Washington’s position “a brilliant situation” and said he suggested a strike might not be needed. It also reported his claims that more oil was moving through Hormuz than before the war and that the U.S. port blockade was hurting Iran’s economy.

The remarks followed a reported U.S. operation in Hormuz on Nov. 2. The Associated Press, citing an unnamed U.S. official, reported that U.S. forces hit Iranian sites there; the official characterized the action as defensive.

EconoTimes previously covered Trump’s decision to leave military action against Iran open.
