President Donald Trump attacked late-night host Bill Maher on Sunday, Oct. 25, two days after Maher interviewed former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, reversing Trump’s public praise for their White House dinner.

Trump called Maher a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER” and wrote, “Bill: Don’t call anymore.” In the post, he attacked the show’s ratings, accused Maher of dishonesty and said the dinner had taught him nothing and was a waste of time.

The shift in tone followed Trump’s warmer comments the day after the Oct. 15 dinner. On Oct. 16, he told reporters it was a “great dinner” and said Maher liked him “a lot more than people understand.” Musician Kid Rock and sports commentator Stephen A. Smith also attended.

HBO’s Oct. 23 listing names Leavitt alongside Steve Hilton and Gov. Andy Beshear for the episode. The Guardian reported that Maher asked Leavitt about whether Trump would be a lame duck and whether he might seek vengeance if Republicans fare poorly in the midterms.

The U.S. midterm election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
