U.S. President Donald Trump renewed pressure on Iran to reach a deal as Tehran described ongoing mediation over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway for international shipping.

On social media, Trump said the war on Iran would end “very soon, one way or the other.” He warned Tehran to “make a deal” or, as he put it, “we’ll just end it.” At a Halloween party, Trump said he was “in no hurry” with Iran, Al Jazeera reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said mediators were still discussing a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz over a two-day period. He said he hoped Washington would opt for diplomacy.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said mines caused fires aboard two oil tankers in the strait. Al Jazeera also reported a Friday attack on a Qatari liquefied natural gas carrier.

The current report follows earlier IRGC claims involving the waterway, including an account of a supertanker explosion reported by EconoTimes.
