U.S. President Donald Trump said Oct. 31 he would closely review a report about an alleged Chinese spy plot and wanted Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to remain an adviser absent contrary evidence.

The New York Times reported Oct. 29 that U.S. intelligence officials had assessed a Chinese executive connected to a Singapore data center company was passing information to Beijing. The executive had interacted with Huang, the newspaper reported.

At his Florida residence, Trump told reporters, “We’re going to check it out very closely.” He said he had not known about the specific matter and called Huang “a great, brilliant person.” China dismissed the report as “groundless speculation.”

Huang has advised Trump on artificial intelligence policy. In May, he traveled to Beijing with other technology CEOs, during Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Huang has supported sales of Nvidia chips in China as Beijing advances its domestic semiconductor industry.

EconoTimes previously covered Huang’s description of his Megaspeed ties as routine.
