President Donald Trump answered questions from a single reporter during a Friday Oval Office appearance with Stephen Hubbard, after aides restricted access for most of the press pool, The Independent reported.

CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs attended with a network crew and still photographers, according to the outlet. The Independent also reported that journalists from The Associated Press, The Hill, Daily Caller and Center Square were barred.

Jacobs asked whether the administration was working to free other Americans wrongfully detained in Russia. Trump replied, “We're going to be working on them.” The Independent said no one pressed Trump after he answered; Jacobs asked about several other subjects.

The appearance took place less than a day after Trump criticized a Reuters journalist on Thursday, Oct. 29, for asking about two rallies he had canceled in Iowa and Kansas that were planned for the weekend, The Independent reported.

Hubbard, a retired teacher from Michigan, was released from Russian custody earlier this month after more than four years in detention. EconoTimes previously reported on Hubbard’s release from Russian custody.
