AFP reported Democrats’ Nov. 3 midterm wins gave them control of both congressional chambers and a pledge to hold President Donald Trump’s administration to account, as Trump promised Sunday to rebuild Republican strength.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the United States had taken “a giant step back in History.” He also said the stock market fell after the vote, although it had risen during his presidency.

AFP said Republicans lost ground in states long controlled by the party, describing the reversals as historic. The news agency reported that Trump appointed adviser Stephen Miller chief of staff Friday. It said Democrats pledged to fight Miller at every step and described him as the architect of Trump’s hard-line immigration policy.

EconoTimes previously reported on Democrats’ planned oversight priorities, including proposed inquiries into Trump’s family, the Epstein investigation and immigration agencies.
