Turkish services and retail trade sentiment indices rise in December, construction sentiment index falls

Turkish services confidence index rose sequentially in December. The seasonally adjusted sentiment index rose 2.2 percent to 81.5 in December from November’s 79.8, showed Turkish Statistical Institue. Within services sector, business situation, demand-turnover and demand-turnover expectation indices were up 4.7 percent, 1.6 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively on a sequential basis.

Meanwhile, the retail trade confidence index rose 6.3 percent in December to 96.4. Within the retail trade sector, business activity-sales index rose 13.1 percent, while the current volume of stock index and business activity-sales expectation index rose 4.6 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted construction confidence index dropped 2.1 percent in December to 55.4 from November’s print of 56.6. Within construction sector, current overall order books index dropped 13.5 percent sequentially to 39.3. Nevertheless, total employment expectation index rose 5.5 percent to 71.5.
