Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) cited 468.2 million XRP in Bitfinex short positions, while Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) separately cited a 652.89% increase around Nov. 4; neither figure establishes that traders have closed any positions.
Closing a short may require buying XRP, adding demand to the market. A short position is a wager on a price decline, so gains in XRP can raise pressure to exit. The cited readings do not show that buybacks have begun or that a squeeze is underway.
EconoTimes earlier reported an Oct. 20 Bitfinex XRP/USD margin-long measure. That reading covered long exposure, unlike the short positions cited by Digital Asset Investor.
