As of Oct. 30, two of four proposed XRP Ledger safeguards remained open, covering issuer approval for AMM pool tokens and payments that add to existing trust-line balances held without approval.
Under one proposal, an account could receive an automated market maker (AMM) pool’s liquidity-provider (LP) token only if authorized to hold each of the pool’s two assets. The restriction would apply whether the token came through a payment, offer, non-fungible token offer or AMM bid. The LP token tracks its holder’s share of the pool’s underlying assets.
The second proposal would prevent a payment from increasing an existing trust-line balance when the receiving account lacks issuer approval. Trust lines record balances between accounts for issued assets.
The package, named fixCleanup3_5_0, contained four proposals. Its authors closed two on Oct. 28. Reviewers distinguished authorization to hold or receive issued tokens from freeze rules governing whether assets could be sent. After that consensus, the author closed one proposal that would have limited transfers from existing unauthorized IOU balances to the issuing account.
The second closed proposal sought a transaction-wide authorization test. Its author said reviewers considered such a blanket measure largely unnecessary after the two open proposals covered specific transaction types.
With asfRequireAuth, an issuer can make prior approval a condition for another account to hold an issued token. Neither open proposal is yet part of the main software. A validator vote can follow only after an amendment is included in a software release. To activate it, more than 80% of trusted validators must support the change over two successive weeks; no vote date was given.
