Iran's navy accused U.S. forces of striking its Konarak naval base on Oct. 19 and wounding two personnel, while an unnamed U.S. official denied the allegation in comments attributed to CNN. Hindustan Times reported the official's response, citing CNN.

Al Jazeera reported that the navy said two projectiles hit the base and that a 35mm cannon was the target. Konarak is in Sistan and Baluchestan province on Iran's Gulf of Oman coast.

U.S. Central Command acknowledged a separate operation in Konarak in July. It said U.S. forces struck military targets there during a five-hour operation completed at 10:15 p.m. ET on July 13. The command said the operation sought to reduce Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping. Its announcement did not identify the naval base as a target.
