A directory tally puts the United States at 71.4% of listed crypto ATMs on Sept. 26, even as the global count contracted by nearly 30% from its March level.

Listings totaled 27,358 on Sept. 26, compared with 38,928 on March 29. That is a decrease of 11,570 entries, or 29.7%. The U.S. share was 77.7% on March 29. Canada made up 13.5% of the September count, with Oceania at 7% and Europe at 5.6%.

Between July 8 and Sept. 26, the count slipped by 587 entries globally; 476 of those were in the United States. The geographic split tracks where entries disappeared but does not reveal what prompted the reductions.

On May 17, Bitcoin Depot Inc. and its affiliates petitioned for Chapter 11 protection, with a plan to wind down operations and sell assets. The company’s ATM network went offline, but the directory figures do not identify how many entries, if any, were removed in connection with the shutdown.

A 2025 tally included 13,460 complaints involving cryptocurrency kiosks and adjusted losses of $388,981,267. The complaint category may include other transaction types, so the total cannot be treated as losses caused solely by kiosk use. The complaint numbers do not connect fraud reports to the decline in listings.

The tally reflects directory records and does not verify that machines were active at the locations shown.
