Britain’s Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC) is examining the government’s evidence for regulation in the Energy Independence Bill, with an opinion on its impact assessments to follow when the review ends.

GOV.UK made the assessments public on Nov. 4, a day after the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero delivered them to the committee. The committee’s review examines the evidence and analysis the department used to support its case for regulation. It plans to release an opinion on the assessments once the examination is finished.

An earlier report by The Guardian described plans for the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) to oversee energy brokers and price-comparison services; EconoTimes previously covered that proposal.
