The UK culture secretary is minded to refer Sky UK Limited’s proposed purchase of ITV Media and Entertainment Holdings Limited to Ofcom and the Competition and Markets Authority for further examination.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) published two letters on Oct. 15, one for each company’s solicitors. They set out the Secretary of State’s provisional position and identify Ofcom and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as the bodies that would investigate the anticipated acquisition.

The letters describe a possible referral, not a completed one. The GOV.UK publication does not announce that an investigation has begun.
