UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK government’s export credit agency, said Oct. 20 that nine infrastructure projects in Guinea and Benin are linked to more than £330 million in prospective export contracts for British businesses.
The figure describes contracts British firms are set to secure, not exports already completed. UKEF said £1.1 billion in financing and guarantees would support the deals. Separately, it said it was increasing its exposure capacity for future projects across West and Central Africa by £1.7 billion, a measure distinct from the support attached to the nine projects. UKEF presented its role as helping UK firms sell goods and services into African infrastructure projects.
The four projects named in the announcement include three in Guinea. UKEF cited £75 million in financing for a Planet One school program covering four regions, and £91 million for an Aqua Africa water project. It also listed £129 million for La Cotiere Conakry Transmission, a project contracted to Elecnor. Those figures describe financing, not the value of the related companies’ export contracts.
For Benin, the agency cited £82 million in finance for a government administrative complex awarded to ACC UK Group Ltd. The announcement did not provide a formal project name. The other five projects were not identified, and UKEF did not allocate the full £1.1 billion among all nine, leaving the disclosed amounts as a partial breakdown.
UKEF said the Elecnor contract is expected to create opportunities for UK suppliers but gave no value for those orders. Elecnor Group, which includes the contractor, describes itself as a Spanish business group. The release did not state how much of the more than £330 million in prospective contracts relates to each country.
UKEF announced the package at WCAF V, a forum in Conakry focused on UK trade and investment with French-speaking West and Central African countries. The forum organizer lists the event from Oct. 19 through Oct. 21, 2026, in Conakry.
