The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) urged vessels near Oman to report unusual activity after a tanker’s security officer reported two projectiles hit its engine room.

UKMTO placed the incident about 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, at 2 p.m. ET Nov. 3 (1900 UTC). The agency said it had received no reports of injuries or environmental harm.

The notice did not identify the tanker or say where the projectiles came from. Authorities were investigating, UKMTO said.

A separate UKMTO entry on Oct. 22 placed another tanker report about seven nautical miles northeast of Lima. The agency said that vessel continued to its next port after reporting a projectile strike. EconoTimes covered the Oct. 22 incident.
