The Atlanta Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is going to hold an investor conference on June 13, 2018, at Georgia State University.
The one-day “Investing in America” conference will include a break-out session on bitcoin and initial coin offerings (ICOs), according to the conference details. The break out session will allow attendees to talk to the leaders of the SEC in more informal sessions on key topics.
“All five SEC Commissioners are coming to Atlanta to meet with you: young people, the military, urban and rural, those saving for retirement, and seniors—the diverse, the dynamic people of the southeast region,” the announcement reads.
The main session will feature SEC Chairman Jay Clayton and Commissioners Kara Stein, Michael Piwowar, Robert Jackson Jr., and Hester Peirce. The topics include investing in mutual funds and ETFs, how fintech is changing your options, protecting your information in the digital age, and more.
In his recent statement, Clayton applauded the efforts of the regulators in the U.S. and Canada to combat fraud in the ICO markets. The comments were particularly targeted on NASAA’s recent announcement of enforcement sweep targeting fraudulent ICOs and crypto-asset investment products.
