The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) has announced that now all account holders will be able to view their Coinbase accounts alongside the rest of their USAA accounts and financial services on usaa.com, and in March, on the USAA Mobile App.
The Fortune 500 firm launched a Coinbase pilot program towards the end of 2014, allowing select USAA employees and members to view their Coinbase accounts on usaa.com and the USAA Mobile App. Following the successful pilot, USAA is expanding the feature to all account holders, it said in an online post.
“Traditionally, USAA is very good about getting in front of emerging technology trends,” said Jon Cholak, the lead investment associate for USAA’s Corporate Development team. “What we’re developing is at the forefront of the financial services industries.”
CoinDesk noted that USAA was one of many participants in the $75m Series C round raised by bitcoin services firm Coinbase in January 2015, together with The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and BBVA Ventures.
USAA further said that aggregating a Coinbase account is easy and secure. Using OAuth (Open Authentication) technology, USAA receives an access token to retrieve Coinbase account information, never storing Coinbase account credentials.
