On Oct. 20, Bitfinex received 100,980,000 Tether (USDT) from a wallet whose controller was not identified, a reported $100.9 million deposit that does not show what happened to the tokens afterward.
The transfer took place on Ethereum, and its reported value was $100,934,306. The sending wallet’s controller was not identified. The transaction does not show what happened to the tokens after they arrived at Bitfinex.
A deposit alone cannot establish whether the holder sold the USDT, exchanged it for another asset or kept it on the platform. It also cannot establish Bitfinex’s net USDT flow over a given period, which would depend on withdrawals as well as deposits.
In a separate Oct. 20 transaction, Binance received 271 million USDT from an unidentified wallet, as described in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage. That larger deposit likewise does not establish whether the tokens were traded or what Binance’s net USDT flow was that day.
