United Breweries Limited (UBL) reported consolidated profit after tax of ₹134.81 crore, nearly three times the year-earlier figure, as premium beer volumes grew 38% in the quarter ended Sept. 30.
Profit after tax rose from ₹46.34 crore a year earlier, an increase of about 191%. The latest total was roughly 2.9 times the year-earlier figure.
A filing with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) listed revenue from operations at ₹4,623 crore, up 23.7% from ₹3,737.31 crore. UBL separately reported net sales growth of 24%. NDTV Profit reported a different figure, ₹2,537 crore, for revenue from operations; its report and the NSE filing did not explain the gap.
Sales to distributors advanced 16%, UBL reported. Heineken Silver volumes rose 67%, while Kingfisher Ultra grew 44%. The company said higher volumes and pricing supported sales, alongside stronger premium sales and changes in geographic and operating mix.
NDTV Profit reported other income of ₹41.3 crore, including ₹36.89 crore in interest on income-tax refunds.
UBL's filing said gross margin improved by 194 basis points and EBITDA margin rose 480 basis points to 11.9%. The company linked the improvement to efforts to restore margins and manage revenue. NDTV Profit reported EBITDA of ₹259 crore, compared with ₹130 crore a year earlier, and a margin of 10.2%, up from 6.3%. The reported margin figures differ, and the filings and report did not explain the gap.
Mint quoted Vivek Gupta, UBL's managing director and CEO, saying, “We delivered an outstanding Q2 FY27, with volume growth accelerating to 16%.” Gupta also cited 24% net sales growth and 161% EBIT growth, Mint reported.
The Q2 results call was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 4:30 a.m. ET (08:30 UTC), equivalent to 2 p.m. IST, according to NSE filings.
