Vietnam’s currency benchmarks moved in opposite directions Monday, as Vietcombank raised its dollar selling price and the State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate, leaving bank and official rates on different paths.
Vietcombank set its selling quote at VND26,100, 0.08% above the weekend level, VnExpress reported. The State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate by 0.02% to VND25,633. VnExpress said the dollar was hovering near VND26,000 at unofficial exchange points.
On international markets, the dollar index stood at 101.83 as the euro lost 0.1% to $1.1225 in early Asian trading. Reuters attributed pressure on the euro to violent protests in France.
The dollar was little changed at 158 yen, while the British pound held at $1.3329; the Australian dollar gained 0.3% to $0.6965 and the New Zealand dollar stayed at $0.5656, VnExpress reported.
